Phoenix Club Night Tournament 2025 – The Full Story
The Phoenix Badminton Club Night Tournament 2025 has come to an end after 8 weeks of thrilling rallies, fierce battles, and unforgettable moments. With 5 teams, 7 match nights, and over 15 players competing, this tournament showcased the very best of our club’s energy, sportsmanship, and love for badminton.
The Journey Begins
The tournament kicked off in early July with five teams: HSR, LCS, MUM, JTM, and HSD. Over the weeks, each team battled it out across 4 matches, scoring points through dominant wins, tight victories, and never-give-up performances.
From the first rallies, it was clear this would be a competition full of surprises. Chris Mason (LCS) lit up early rounds with powerful performances, while Sukhwant Sangha (HSR) and Haider Raza (HSR) showed consistency and calm leadership.
Midway Drama
By mid-tournament, the table was wide open. JTM looked strong early with 4 points from their opening matches, but HSR and LCS quickly closed the gap. Every week, predictions shifted — with supporters wondering: who will take the trophy?
One of the most exciting moments came when LCS battled HSD to secure their first points, thanks to Chris’s dominant +19 score balance, putting him top of the Best Player charts.
The Final Showdown – HSR vs LCS
It all came down to the final night, where HSR met LCS in what was effectively the championship decider. Both teams walked on court knowing: winner takes all.
The match went the distance. With the score tied 1–1, it came down to the final doubles game:
Haider & Raphael (HSR) vs Lukasz & Saurabh (LCS) Final score: 21–16 to HSR
That dramatic finish sealed the 2-1 win for HSR, earning them 9 points overall and crowning them 2025 Phoenix Club Night Champions.
The Runner-Up Battle
While HSR were lifting the trophy, the fight for second place came down to the postponed final match: MUM vs HSD.
MUM needed a dominant 3-0 win to leapfrog LCS on head-to-head. And they delivered in style. With Mike Ferguson, Usman Aurakzai, and Eddy all on top form, MUM swept HSD 3-0, securing the points they needed to finish as Runner-Up.
That result pushed LCS into Third Place, after a strong tournament that saw them consistently perform and keep pressure on the leaders.
